The Village Preschool
SEND Local OfferEvery Child Belongs Here
At The Village Preschool, we are fully committed to inclusion. Every child, regardless of their individual needs, deserves to feel welcome, valued and supported to reach their full potential.
Our Approach to SEND
We believe that all children are unique and develop at their own pace. Some children may need additional support at different points in their early years journey, and we’re here to provide it — sensitively, effectively and in close partnership with families.
Our preschools have a designated Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) who oversees all aspects of SEND provision and ensures that every child receives the support they need to thrive.

How We Support Children
What We Offer
Early Identification
Our experienced staff use ongoing observations and assessments to identify any areas where a child may need additional support. We work closely with parents from the very beginning — your insights about your child are invaluable.
Individual Support Plans
Where additional support is needed, we create targeted plans tailored to each child’s specific needs. These plans set clear, achievable goals and are regularly reviewed to ensure children are making the best possible progress.
Key-Person Approach
Every child has a dedicated key person who knows them deeply. For children with SEND, this consistent, trusting relationship is especially important — providing the emotional security and familiarity that helps them engage and learn.
Partnership Working
We work collaboratively with a range of external professionals, including speech and language therapists, educational psychologists and health visitors. When specialist support is needed, we ensure referrals are made promptly and that advice is integrated into daily practice.
Inclusive Environment
Our settings are designed to be accessible and welcoming for all children. We adapt activities, resources and routines to ensure every child can participate fully and enjoy their time at preschool. We have dedicated sensory areas both inside and outside where children can go to regulate and take time away from any stressors.
Parent Partnership
You are your child’s first educator. We maintain open, honest communication with families, sharing progress regularly and working together to agree on the best strategies to support your child both at preschool and at home.
Communications Needs
For children who are pre-verbal or still developing their speech, we use Makaton, simple signs and symbols alongside spoken words, to help them express themselves, feel included, and build communication skills at their own pace.
